Did you know? The initial Sturmpanzers suffered from an issue of excessive weight relative to their chassis, resulting in frequent suspension and transmission breakdowns. Subsequent efforts, starting with the second series, aimed to address and improve this problem.

In October 1943, a decision was made to undertake a weight reduction redesign of the StuH 43 gun. This initiative resulted in the development of a lighter variant, weighing approximately 800 kilograms (1,800 lb) less than the original StuH 43, known as the StuH 43/1.
