Did you know? The creation of this self-propelled assault gun involved repurposing the chassis of the Bergepanzer 38(t) recovery vehicle. It featured a 15 cm sIG 33/2 howitzer mounted within a lightly armored casemate, it’s enclosed firing compartment was safeguarded by 10 mm thick armored plating on its front and sides. The design was the result of collaboration with BMM in Prague, planned as a replacement for the Grille self-propelled howitzers. A total of 30 units were constructed, with production taking place from December 1944 to February 1945.
